ONIT MTB founders Nick Dobson and Simon Purssey

Our Story

Our story begins back in Year 7 at St Peter’s in Brisbane, when fate—and a seating plan—brought us together. Nick Dobson and I, Simon Purssey, have been inseparable ever since. Our friendship grew around a shared passion for BMX riding. Every weekend, we’d ride anywhere and everywhere, from the carparks of Jindalee to racing competitively across the city. Nick’s golden Madison BMX was legendary, and his skills on the bike—popping monos and smashing through races—were second to none.

Fast forward 40 years, and our love for cycling has only grown stronger. These days we’re based in Victoria and it’s all about mountain biking. Nick rides a Scott Genius, and I’m on a Scott Spark, and together we tackle the roughest trails Victoria has to offer. Biking has always been about pushing boundaries for us—whether it was BMX or MTB, it’s always been about getting air, perfecting slides, and facing new challenges head-on.

When Victoria’s COVID lockdowns closed the trails, we had plenty of time to think, talk and tinker. That’s where ONIT was born: mountain bike apparel that’s tough enough for rough trails and comfortable enough to wear all day. Check out the jerseys and shorts and pants, or read more about ONIT.
